Title: Senior Buyer
Shift: 8-hour shift / Monday-Friday
Salary: To be discussed with Bryant Staffing Solutions Recruiter
Bonus: 6% Bonus Eligible
Location: Clayton, NC
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Senior Buyer is responsible for all aspects of procuring raw materials, subcontracting, and consumable materials while ensuring materials are available to production to meet on-time customer delivery. The position will be involved in building supplier relationships, negotiation, expediting, maintaining of procurement system (BOM and routings, PO dates, etc), and requesting quotes for new and existing parts in support of cost savings initiatives. The successful candidate actively supports the Company’s vision and goals displays a can-do attitude, is a self-starter, and seeks out continuous improvement opportunities.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Responsible for planning, scheduling, and monitoring materials
- Collaborate with manufacturing, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and vendors to establish, maintain, and/or improve customer due dates
- Monitor, Mediate, and Communicate shortages, backlogs, lead times, vendor changes, and issues to ensure on-time shipments to Customers
- Active participation in 5S, lean initiatives, continuous improvement, and any other program deemed necessary by management
- Analyze ERP system data to improve material management
- Ability to understand MRP, create work orders and supplier POs, and communicate the status of all orders as needed to meet internal and external customer requirements
- Coordinate all responsible individuals needed to resolve issues with work orders
- Communicate and monitor company expectations/ needs with vendors to ensure successful partnerships
- Provide timely and accurate information
- Monitor and actively work to improve the margins (profitability) of the items within your customer and supplier base
- Be capable of reading, understanding, explaining, and responding to customer contract Terms and Conditions and other Purchase Order/Contract attachments
- Partner with Customer Service, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Shipping to fulfill and exceed customers’ expectations
- Maintain detailed files for documentation
- Performs the functions to include initiating and follow-up to resolve problems, answer questions, correspondence, and reports
- Become proficient in Baan and develop reports using ECQ
- Identify cost reduction opportunities
- RFQ/ RFP assistance and follow-thru
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS - Bachelors in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or Logistics with 5+ years of manufacturing systems experience as a purchasing agent/buyer, OR 8-12years of manufacturing systems experience as a purchasing agent/buyer in lieu of a bachelor
- Manufacturing experience is required
- Leadership skills with a deep knowledge of inventory and supply chain management
- Vast experience procuring various raw and consumer materials
- High proficiency with Excel including formulas, charts/graphs, pivot tables, etc.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Suite
- Extensive experience in ERP environment
- Excellent communications skills (verbal and written), presentation, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
- Team-building attitude and is self-motivated
