Position Overview: The Billing Specialist is responsible for filing and tracking insurance claims for the assigned alpha split, ensuring complete resolution of accounts. This role involves following up on insurance and patient aging accounts, resolving disputes with insurance companies, and assisting with posting payments and adjustments for Explanation of Benefits (EOB).

Essential Functions:

• Thorough research and resolution of aging, denied, and rejected claims
• Submission of electronic and paper claims, including necessary documentation
• Understanding and adherence to EOBs, payer policies, and AHVI processes
• Knowledge of AHVI collections and financial assistance program policies
• Professional and HIPAA-compliant interactions with patients, insurance companies, AHVI providers and staff, and outside healthcare professionals

Education:

• Preferred: Some college or continuing education
• Minimum: High School diploma

Experience:

• Minimum: Two years of experience in a medical billing office with emphasis on insurance research and claim follow-up

Certificate/License:

• Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Coder (CPC) from AAPC preferred but not required.
