JOB DESCRIPTION

The University of Southern California (USC) Leonard Davis School of Gerontology is seeking a Research Associate to join our staff and student community.  This role will be responsible for carrying out (mostly independently) a project on ovarian aging in mouse models, with both experiments in mice and data science components. Additional responsibilities include drafting of scientific results for submission as scientific manuscripts and assisting the PI in preparing scientific progress reports and grant submissions .

The Research Associate will report directly to Dr. Berenice Benayoun, Assistant Professor of Gerontology, Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, and Molecular Medicine, and will work in collaboration with junior Benayoun lab members. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in academic research (> 5 years; including manuscript and grant writing), expertise in ovarian biology and in aging, experience working with mice (including husbandry and dissection), experience in next-generation data processing techniques (including single-cell RNA-sequencing analysis) using bash scripting and R, familiarity with the use of a cluster computing environment, and be able to work independently in coordination with the PI.

This is a full-time exempt position that will require substantial commitment and flexibility.

Work will be 100% in-person on campus and requires no more than 25% time traveling within the southern California region.

This position is funded by a research contract/grant and may be funded by a subsequent contract/grant. Accordingly, your position is contingent upon receipt of the necessary funding from this or any subsequent contract/grant to continue employment.

The annual base salary range for this position is $66,904 to $74,000.
