Manufacturing Supervisor

We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Supervisor to join our talented Operations Team.

Located in Franklin Park, IL a few minutes northwest of Chicago, Vapor Power International, LLC is an industry leader in the design and manufacturing of steam generators and thermal fluid heaters. Custom engineered-to-order, their products serve a broad range of markets from food processing to petrochemical applications. Founded in the early 1900's, Vapor Power has grown from a small supplier of heating products for the railroad industry to one of the most regarded suppliers of specialty equipment for steam generation and process heating.

Reporting to the VP of Manufacturing, the Manufacturing Supervisor will assist in overseeing the Manufacturing Division of the Vapor Power location, ensuring effective and efficient use of facilities and staff. Supervisory Responsibilities:

· Participates in the recruitment, hiring, and training of manufacturing employees.

· Participates in scheduling and assignments for the division.

· Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.

· Participates in the handling of discipline and termination recommendations of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.

Responsibilities:

· Assists in the oversight of the manufacture of products, ensuring production, performance, and quality standards are consistently met.

· Collaborates with engineers to design cost-effective manufacturing layouts and building ergonomics for new product lines.

· Maintains knowledge of best practices in manufacturing methods, and trends and developments in technology and equipment; applies this knowledge to maintain the organization's competitive edge.

· Identifies and assesses various problems and departures from established manufacturing standards and best practices; researches and recommends solutions.

· Implements methods and modifications to reduce production costs.

· Reviews production reports to ensure safety, quality, financial, and delivery goals and standards are met.

· Ensures a healthy and safe working environment, and compliance with federal and state regulations, through collaboration with environmental, health, and safety staff.

· Assists VP of Manufacturing with long-range operating goals, expansion efforts, and implementation of new and advanced technology.

· Identifies and shares training opportunities for staff to build and improve skills.

· Assists in the organization of departmental management structure and teams for optimal, efficient operations.

· Works with VP of Manufacturing and finance to develop operating budget.

· Delivers progress and production reports to executive team members as requested.

· Participated in evaluation of equipment purchase, maintenance, and layout.

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education & Requirements:

· Bachelor's degree in a relevant Industrial Manufacturing field required.

· At least three to five years of experience in industrial management required.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Strong supervisory and leadership skills.

· Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.

· Thorough understanding of the policies and practices used in the manufacturing division.

· Ability to set long-term goals and communicate them to others.

· Ability to motivate and organize multiple efforts to accomplish goals.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

· Prolonged periods of standing or walking.

· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

· Must be able to access and navigate all areas in the facility.

· Must be able to quickly traverse manufacturing areas.

· Must be able to stand, bend, crawl, stretch, lay, and squat in order to maintain equipment.
