SUMMARY

Ensure and provide comprehensive Early Head Start services to children and their families. Use the center environment to assist staff with creating rich learning opportunities that build on daily routines and support each child's development.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or General Education Development certificate (GED) and Child Development Associate (CDA) credential (Infant and Toddler) required. Alternatively, a baccalaureate or advanced degree in any field and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education with experience teaching children 0-3 (preferred); A baccalaureate degree in any field and has been admitted into the Teach For America program, passed a rigorous early childhood content exam, such as the Praxis II, participated in a Teach For America summer training institute that includes teaching preschool children, and is receiving ongoing professional development and support from Teach For America's professional staff; An associate degree in early childhood education; An associate degree in a field related to early childhood education and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education with experience teaching children age 0-3.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to parents, and employees of the agency.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and involved written or oral instructions.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have general knowledge of a personal computer, Windows, Microsoft Word and Excel, the Internet and email software. In addition an individual should be able to operate various office machines.
