Location: Tukwila, WA, South Seattle, WA, Tacoma, WA, Renton, WA
Compensation
This is a temporary part-time position working 20+ hours/ a week at an hourly rate of $45-$53.87 an hour. Because of our strong commitment to equity and growth, Impact does not negotiate salaries. Salaries are determined based on years of experience.
This position has the potential to extend long-term if it's a great mutual fit. After 2 months, we will evaluate the possibility of this role being permanent.

In This Position, You Will Be Responsible For:
Health and Wellness Support:
- Collaborate closely with Impact Public Schools staff, including teachers and administrators, to contribute to a healthy and inclusive school environment. Provide crucial health-related support to ensure students' well-being, assist in implementing effective health management strategies, and create a safe atmosphere conducive to student health and learning.
Clinical Practices:
- Work closely with the IPS’ Head Nurse on health policies and procedures to consistently execute best practices aligned with healthcare and nursing standards. Provide essential healthcare services, administer medications, and address health-related concerns promptly and effectively.
Emergency Preparedness:
- Assist in planning and preparation for potential health-related emergencies, ensuring readiness to respond to medical situations promptly and with precision. Collaborate with IPS staff to develop comprehensive health emergency response plans.
Modeling Health and Safety:
- Exemplify and consistently model health and safety practices, promoting a culture of well-being within the IPS community. Adhere to health-related norms that align with the organization's values, ensuring a sense of security and health for all students and staff.
Promoting Equity in Health:
- In collaboration with the school community, actively disrupt health-related inequities, advocating for equitable access to healthcare resources and fostering an environment that prioritizes the well-being of every student. Consistently work towards closing health-related opportunity gaps within the IPS community and contributing to a culture of health equity.

- Clinical Competence: IPS’ school nurses possess strong clinical skills, including the ability to assess and treat various health issues, administer medications, and provide emergency care when necessary. Competence in managing health records and collaborating with healthcare professionals is also crucial.
- Effective Communication: IPS’ school nurses have strong communication skills to interact with students, parents, teachers, and administrators. Clear and empathetic communication ensures effective health education, facilitates collaboration with stakeholders, and enables the school nurse to convey critical health information to all parties involved.
- Empathy and Compassion: IPS’ school nurses are empathetic and compassionate. Our school nurses genuinely care for the well-being of students, understanding and addressing their physical and emotional needs. The ability to create a supportive and nurturing atmosphere contributes significantly to the overall health and wellness of the IPS community.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher in nursing or actively working towards completing a bachelor's degree in nursing or
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with at-risk youth
- Passion for equity and gap closing teaching experience with proven record of student growth
License/Certification
- Must have or be eligible for a valid State of Washington Registered Nurse License certification as required by OSPI
- Must have or be eligible to obtain a CPR certification
- Must have or be eligible to obtain a food handler certification
