Job description

What You'll Do:


Functions as floating unit psychiatrist providing care to assigned patients: admits patient; completes psychiatric work-up on assigned patients (e.g., identifing data, chief complaints history of present mental illness, past medical & psychiatric history, personal & social history, mental status, diagnostic impression, assets, estimated length of stay); provides psychotherapy; psychopharmacological therapy & other therapies in accordance with delineated clinical privileges; makes daily rounds; documents at least weekly patient contact & progress on interdisciplinary progress notes; responsible for development of patients' individualized plan of treatment; heads Treatment Team; provides patient with or ensures patient receives Informed Consent on medications; request second opinions, capacity assessments, etc. as necessary; consults with patient family members/significant others; confers with Case Managers, Mental Health Agency & community social workers & physician for discharge planning or problems with patient; attends Probate Court hearings as required; completes discharge summaries in accordance with medical staff bylaws, rules & regulations; completes correspondence, forms, other requests for patient information (e.g., Medicare & Medicaid forms, letters to employers, letters of appeal to Blue Cross, Physician Peer System); provides medical record documentation that meets TJC standards & requirements for Medicare reimbursement; facilitate & support Mental Health Recovery for individual with severe persistent mental illness. Reviews physical work-up of patients; screens physical work-ups provided by Medical Practitioner or Officer-of-the-day; screens & initials laboratory finds, x-ray reports, etc.; makes referrals & consultation requests to facility's Medical clinic, University of Toledo Medical Center, etc. for physical problem & com-plaints. Provides coverage for day time admissions of all patients to NOPH; completes initial psychiatric assessment & brief physical evaluation as clinical indicated or specified by the CCO; provides alternate emergency coverage for absent physicians as requested; in an emergency/crisis situation at assigned unit, will remain on duty until situation is resolved & patient is stable.

Qualifications
Certificate to practice medicine per Section 4731.13 of Revised Code; satisfactory completion of residency training program in psychiatry, as approved by the residency review committee of the American Medical Association, the committee on post-graduate education of the American Osteopathic Association or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology & Psychiatry or has been recognized as a psychiatrist by the Ohio State Medical Association or the Ohio Osteopathic Association on the basis of formal training & 5 or more yrs. of medical practice limited to psychiatry per Section 5122.01(E) of Revised Code.
