Kittelson is seeking a full-time
3D Visualization Specialistto join a team of creative design and GIS professionals in an effort to support project activities firmwide. This is an opportunity to join a team of thought leaders and entrepreneurs at a growing, values-driven transportation planning/engineering consulting firm.

Position Summary
The ideal candidate has strong organizational, communication, and time management capabilities; works effectively with technical and administrative staff; continually seeks to improve processes; is detail-oriented; and thrives in a non-structured environment.
In this role, you will support a variety of project teams across the firm with 3D visualization, CAD/graphic, and video production tasks for projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Communicate and coordinate 3D modeling efforts/tasks with project managers, external clients, engineers, and analysts.
- Acquire and manage 3D assets, GIS and CAD data, data from public sources and agency data portals.
- Create small to large 3D scenes in 3ds Max using CAD, terrain, and other engineering data.
- Apply realistic to generic textures, lighting, and environmental conditions.
- Render images and videos using realistic to artistic rendering styles.
- Camera match 3D models to existing imagery or video.
- Animate cameras, vehicles, and pedestrians.
- Apply colliders, physical properties, mass, and friction factors for simulation models.
- Produce animation videos and other multi-media products.
- Work with web applications hosting 3D environments.
- Develop and maintain 3D visualization workflows.
- Ensure that schedules are met for project/proposal/marketing deliverables.
- Share project successes and short falls with the 3D Visualization group to improve firmwide practices.
- Share innovative tools, project stories, and 3D visualization accomplishments through companywide presentations.
Note – this is an in person role and applicants are required to be physically located within a reasonable commuteto a Kittelson office. We are not interested in hiring third party consultants or independent freelancers.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Strong Autodesk capabilities using AutoCAD (preferably Civil 3D), and 3DS Studio Max.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD files and 2D plans.
- Strong capabilities using one or more of the following tools: Sketchup, Lumion, Unreal Engine, and TwinMotion.
- Strong video production and motion graphic capabilities using Adobe products.
- Works well in a high-pressure environment; manages workload and meets deadlines.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated and proactive communication
- Capable of handling multiple projects/tasks concurrently
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Additional Qualifications
- Develop custom functions using Blueprint and/or C++.
- Minimum of 5 years of similar and relevant working experience
- Experience working in the AEC industry.
- College degree or trade school preferred, and/or in a field related to the position.

Compensation and Benefits
This position offers a competitive salary and benefits that include comprehensive employer-paid health insurance, a generous and flexible PTO program (in addition to parental leave), an outstanding retirement program, and a culture that seeks and values diversity and inclusion.
Base salary plus retirement range for this position (place in range determined by candidate’s experience): $70,000 – $90,000
We also recognize the performance of all staff through a performance bonus program based upon each individual’s contributions to key areas that lead to the achievement of our collective goals.
