Job Summary
The focus of the position is to provide support, guidance, and training to shore-based staff that support the fleet, vessel teams, and guests. This position will primarily work with shore-based staff through processes and practices that provide smart, seamless structures, and communications. The Land Manager has various staff or contractors, located at turn around ports in Juneau, Seattle, Ketchikan, Sitka, Hawaii, and Mexico who they oversee.
This is a full-time position with benefits based at the company headquarters in Juneau, Alaska . This position reports to the Vice President of Operations.
Essential Duties
Transfers
- Responsible for timely creation of transfer manifests and submission to vendors
- Facilitate and manage all transfers of guests and luggage to and from the Juneau airport to the hotels and docks.
- Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with vendors to ensure effective communication and collaboration in achieving mutual business goals.
- Review guest comment cards and scores on pre/post cruise experience.
Hotels and Hospitality
- Develop and maintain business relationships with land-based vendors and oversee the contractual obligations between UnCruise Adventures and the vendor.
- Manage Hospitality Suites/ Meet and Greet areas.
- Coordinate embarkation and disembarkation times for vessels with the captains.
- Work with the sales team to provide hotel blocks at “on brand” hotels and arrange hospitality suites in the same location.
Tours
- Oversee the Juneau Tours Program.
- Updating current tour offerings.
- Training with UnCruise sales team on tours available.
- Call outs to guests prior to arrival in Juneau.
- Working with the Vessel Leadership Teams onboard to provide opportunities for guests post cruise.
- Assist the sales team in the development of revenue producing additions to land-based opportunities for guests pre and post voyage.
Oversee Juneau Office Facilities and Program
- Work directly with the building landlord to ensure cleanliness and maintenance of the office building.
- Coordinate staffing at the Juneau office check-in desk and manage retail options and sales goals in the office storefront.
- Work with Hotel Operations to provide retail options and sales goals within the Juneau office store front.
- Coordinate dock operations for UnCruise vessels at the Seadrome dock.
- Ensure that all storage spaces on property are organized and inventoried.
- Scheduling and upkeep of Juneau Equipment (Truck, Van, Car, Zalley, Carts, Forklift etc.).
Budgeting/Financial
- Identify and target areas in which the business can improve operation.
- Implement and manage robust revenue tracking systems for the tour sales program, utilizing analytical tools and software to monitor and report on sales performance, identify trends, and optimize revenue generation strategies.
- Manage adoption, implementation, tracking, and completion of assigned regional projects, other duties and ad-hoc projects as assigned.
- Responsible for ensuring all vendor invoices are coded timely and accurately for the Land Department.
Leadership and Contingency Support
- Develop and articulate a clear and compelling vision for the department or team, aligning with the overall organizational goals and objectives.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment by recruiting, developing, and retaining top talent. Provide mentorship and guidance to team members for their professional growth.
- Provide support and leadership for land and sea-based contingencies.
Qualifications
- Must be highly skilled with computers, including advanced knowledge of Excel, Outlook, Word and familiar with web-based applications.
- Prefer a minimum of 5 years of experience in the small passenger vessel industry or similar.
- Must have a keen attention to detail, be highly organized, and capable of managing many tasks and projects at any given time.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.
- Interact with company personnel as well as non-company individuals in a respectful and helpful manner, provide guidance and support and have excellent follow through.
Physical Demands
The person performing the job is normally required to sit for long periods. The employee will be reaching with arms and fingers. Must be able to work in close contact with coworkers. Heavy use of keyboard, digital computer monitor, and telephone is required.
Work Schedule
Flexibility is required to meet the demands of the position. Travel for this position is also required and may be as much as 25%.
Winter season (November-March) is Tuesday-Saturday with a flexible start time between 8:00 am and 9:00 am. There will be intermittent periods of time based at the company's office at Fishermen's Terminal in Seattle (housing included).
Summer season (April-October) when vessels are operating in Alaska the work schedule will be Wednesday-Sunday. Occasional on-call and additional working weekends will be required.
