Position Summary

The Zacharewski lab in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department is looking for a laboratory technician to assist with ongoing research activities performed by undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral researchers. The candidate's duties will include assisting with the management of transgenic mouse colonies including daily monitoring, genotyping, and supporting active experimental protocols such as weighing, substance administration, and tissue collections. They will also assist with general lab maintenance activities including maintaining materials and reagents stocks, regular monitoring of eye wash stations and other safety requirements as well as assist with coordinating EHS inspections and disposal of hazardous way.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in the specific field of research employment or other related field; up to six months of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in basic research techniques in the specific or related field; word processing, spreadsheet; database and/or desktop publishing software; presentation software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The job may require the appropriate pesticide applicator's registration/certification and/or experience working with potentially dangerous research animals.

BSc degree in biological sciences

3-5 years experience
