NEW HIGHER PAY: $50,466 – $55,385
 
The Challenge
We are hiring an Entry-Level Engineering Technician to join our award-winning Henderson county team.

In this role, you will:

Work with counties, municipalities, developers, property owners, contractors, and field support as the permitting technician to establish compliance with engineering standards and guidelines.

Review plans for subdivisions, utility installations, driveway access, and roadway improvements.

Process permits, including driveway, utility and non-utility encroachment agreements, road additions and abandonments, and other records and reports.

Interact with local government agencies, utility representatives, contractors, property owners, and others to discuss adherence to policies and procedures.

Respond to questions and address complaints from the public by phone, written correspondence, and in person.

What You Bring

Experience maintaining standard daily records and reports.

You work best in a team environment to complete assignments.

Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision.

Knowledge of standards and specifications and plan reading experience.

Knowledge and understanding of general concepts, practices, and theories used in construction, construction inspection, and/or construction surveying.

Ability to establish and maintain positive lines of communication between other technicians, engineers, contractors, and the public. Skills to communicate in a clear, concise, organized, and persuasive manner.

Ability to work safely in an outside environment with exposure to hazards on construction sites including heights, highway traffic, and traversing rough terrain in evaluating highway construction.

Strength and agility to perform moderate physical activity including but not limited to walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, standing, and to lift 50 pounds.

Ability to work nights and weekends when required.

Ability to apply safety philosophy and program to all operations.

Education & Experience
Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related curriculum; or
An equivalent combination of training and experience.
