Position Overview: As the Controller, you will play a vital role in establishing and leading a high-performing accounting department. Responsibilities include overseeing day-to-day accounting activities, maintaining a strong control environment, and contributing to the company's growth.
Job Responsibilities: Reporting directly to the Regional VP of Finance, your responsibilities include:
- • Managing the accurate reporting of financial statements following generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- • Overseeing the month-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, and general ledger reconciliation, adhering to internal and external reporting requirements.
- • Identifying opportunities for process improvement and striving for a 10-day financial reporting close.
- • Supervising the daily operations of the accounting department.
- • Managing billing and collections, ensuring timely invoicing and adherence to credit terms.
- • Overseeing accounts payable functions, processing vendor invoices accurately and on time.
- • Managing treasury functions and cash flow forecasting.
- • Calculating monthly commissions payouts.
- • Ensuring revenue recognition complies with relevant accounting standards, including percentage of completion accounting for project revenues.
- • Directing all accounting operations and collaborating with different departments within the organization.
- • Assisting with financial information requests from the parent company.
- • Developing, implementing, and enforcing internal financial and accounting policies to support growth.
- • Building strong cross-functional relationships across the business.
- • Assisting in recruiting, developing, and retaining skilled accounting staff.
- • Leading key financial processes, such as annual budgets and monthly/quarterly forecasts.
- • Providing essential financial insights to the management team.
- Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience.
- At least 1 year of managerial experience overseeing staff.
- Proven experience managing a company's general ledger and leading the month-end close process.
- Familiarity with percentage of completion accounting.
- Knowledge of invoicing, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.
- Strong understanding of relevant accounting principles.
- Excellent communication skills to translate financial information into layman's terms.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- A positive and resourceful can-do attitude.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting.
- Knowledge of Cost Accounting.
- Experience with relevant accounting software.
