JOB TITLE: COLLEGE DIRECTOR OF FINANCIAL AIDDEPARTMENT: FINANCIAL AID
SALARY RANGE: $90,000 - $110,000 FLSA: EXEMPT
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs
SCHEDULE DETAILS: Full-time/12 month position/PSRS
Position Summary
The College Director plays a pivotal role in ensuring access to higher education for students by overseeing the administration of financial aid programs, managing a dedicated team of professionals, and developing strategies to maximize financial support for our students. The College Director must possess an in-depth knowledge of higher education and an extensive understanding of the role financial aid plays in enrollment management and student success. The College Director must also be an expert on state and national financial aid programs, policies, compliance and reporting requirements, and issues.
Essential Job Duties
- Supervise the administration of all financial aid programs and oversee all financial aid in accordance with applicable law.
- Lead and support the financial aid department and its functions, including direct supervision and management of departmental budget.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state financial aid regulations and reporting requirements.
- Advise the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and/or the college executive team on financial aid related matters.
- Supervise completion of all paperwork, reports and applications commensurate with federal, state, and institutional financial aid requirements. Manage the processing of financial aid applications and the reconciliation/verification of data that may create inconsistencies with the awarding process.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive financial aid strategy aligned with the institution's mission and goals.
- Collaborate with other departments to streamline financial aid processes and improve student experience.
- Organize financial aid data to present to a variety of audiences including, but not limited to, senior leadership, regulatory agencies, staff, and students.
- Responsible for policies and procedures in order to comply with regulations as set forth by the U.S. Department of Education.
- Stay current on federal, state, and institutional financial aid policies, regulations, and best practices.
- Complete and/or assist in the completion of financial aid audits, forms, and reports.
- Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.
- Comply with college policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including attending college functions, serving on committees, and attending community events.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
- Five years of experience working with financial aid or student accounts.
- Five years of experience working in a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
- Three years leadership experience, with a demonstrated track record of strategic thinking and a focus on student success.
- Demonstrated commitment to a student centered, collaborative philosophy.
- Demonstrated ability to commit to a team-building approach.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to use information technology for professional productivity (such as Microsoft Office Suite).
Preferred Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
- Five years of leadership experience, with a demonstrated track record of strategic thinking and a focus on student success.
- Administrative leadership of a financial aid office.
- Working technical knowledge including set up of modules in Colleague.
- Auditing experience.

Environment:Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting with frequent interruptions and distractions. Requires extended periods of time viewing computer monitor or standing; may require adjustment of schedule to include some evening and/or weekends; may encounter occasional exposure to inclement weather during travel.
Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard.
