Job description
Position Summary
The role of the Maintenance Manager is to increase overall equipment reliability within the plant by managing the preventative maintenance program and identifying permanent solutions to reoccurring issues. This role is also responsible for the ongoing maintenance of the facility and effectively managing a team of maintenance professionals.
Accountabilities
- Manage the repair, upkeep and refurbishment of all associated manufacturing equipment (large tonnage injection molding machines, molds, extruders, robots, decorating equipment, additional support and auxiliary equipment, etc.).
- Manage building and facility maintenance needs.
- Oversee implementation of preventive maintenance systems and execute the preventative maintenance program to national expectations through the use of our CMMS UpKeep.
- Effectively lead a team of maintenance professionals, scheduling and managing daily work and ensuring timely and quality completion of assignments. Provide safety leadership and ensure all work is performed with safety as the first priority.
- Set goals and strategy for the maintenance department aligned with increasing overall equipment reliability.
- Support the development of automated processes.
- Create an improvement plan for preventive and predictive maintenance.
- Oversee the training, mentoring, and effectiveness of the maintenance department.
- Develop, implement and share beneficial standards and work procedures.
- Work diligently with all departments to find permanent solutions to reoccurring problems or issues. Participate in and/or lead root cause analysis of down time events.
- Effectively perform hands-on and general management responsibilities (planning, prioritizing, communicating, resource balancing, budgeting, purchasing, etc.).
- Provide leadership oversight for 24/7 operation and maintenance responsibilities.
- Facilitate a team culture within the maintenance department and with all other departments; provide technical support to other departments.
- Maintain a positive approach in a fast paced dynamic work environment.
- May be expected to manage spare parts inventory and/or manage maintenance costs within budget.
Qualifications
- Maintenance management experience in plastic industry
- Injection molding or blow molding experience preferred
- Strong industrial electrical and hydraulic knowledge
- Experience with preventative maintenance practices
- Emphasis on & knowledge of safe work practices required (OSHA, NEC, etc.)
- Experience with robots and automation
- Knowledge of lean principles, including 5S, kaizen, kanban, visual controls, root cause analysis, and problem solving
