Job description

Position Summary:

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Student Assistant for the Child Health Institute of New Jersey at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Student Assistant will be responsible for studying induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) models of intellectual disability (ID) and autism spectrum disorder ( ASD ) using biochemical and microscopy approaches. The project is part of a larger effort in the lab to discover how mutations in the CC2D1A gene lead to sex differences in ID and ASD .

The Student Assistant should have a broad (college-level) knowledge of genetics, molecular biology, and biochemistry and some research experience. The Student Assistant will be responsible for the performance and analysis of experiments under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and lab members. As part of their professional development to transition to the next phase of their career, the Student Assistant will be trained in improving their experimental design skills and their oral and written presentation skills. Multiple resources for career development to aid with these requirements will be provided by the PI and Rutgers University.
