Duties and Responsibilities - Recruitment & Outreach: - Serve as the dynamic and friendly face of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign's Office of Undergraduate Admissions in the Chicagoland area.
- Craft and execute targeted recruitment and outreach plans in line with Illinois' strategy to attract a diverse and talented applicant pool.
- Empower and guide both domestic and international prospective students, applicants, parents, and counselors with comprehensive insights into Illinois' offerings and admissions processes.
- Deliver timely and courteous counsel while ensuring a seamless journey toward becoming part of the Illinois community.
- Curate and execute compelling initiatives tailored for students and counselors within the recruitment territory, fostering impactful connections.
- Create engaging experiences for prospective students, leveraging technology and interactive methods to promote the Illinois brand and showcase campus culture.
- Manage communication and connections with prospective students and events utilizing our Customer Relationship Management system (Slate).
- Be the responsive point of contact for prospective students, providing personalized guidance and information via diverse channels such as phone, email, and in-person interactions, ensuring a supportive and informative experience throughout.
- Forge collaborative partnerships with admissions, college, and departmental teams to orchestrate impactful recruitment events within designated travel zones, leveraging collective strengths for maximum outreach and impact.
- Forge strategic partnerships with community organizations, educational institutions, and relevant external stakeholders to expand outreach efforts and create mutually beneficial collaborations.
- Assist the Office of Undergraduate Admissions in targeted recruitment initiatives, both off-campus and for student bus trips to the Urbana campus.
- Leverage a spectrum of cutting-edge data resources, both internal and external, to identify untapped recruitment areas and high-potential high schools within the assigned region. Use these insights to strategically focus recruitment efforts, aligning with Illinois' vision for attracting the best and brightest talents.
Admissions Operations & Recruitment Support: - Read and evaluate admissions applications, using your keen judgment to assess and compare them. Craft a holistic view of each applicant, gathering the info needed to make decisions that align with our campus's enrollment targets.
- Actively participate and contribute to professional committees within regional admissions organizations, where your insights and passion will shape the future of our community.
- Take charge of tracking expenses and orchestrating activities within our recruitment budget.
- Develop and maintain metrics to track the effectiveness of programs in your assigned region, providing regular reports to inform decision-making and assess the success of various recruitment and outreach efforts.
- Establish a system to gather feedback from prospective students and stakeholders, enabling continuous improvement in recruitment strategies and services provided.
- Keep abreast of industry trends, shifts in educational landscapes, and changes in admissions processes to ensure that Illinois remains at the forefront of innovative and effective recruitment practices.
- Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in responding to evolving needs, including the ability to pivot strategies based on real-time data and feedback.
- Embark on periodic campus visits for training, development, and recruitment ventures.
- Assist with operational functions like transcript verification, course articulation, and admissions notifications, ensuring a seamless process that leaves a lasting impression on our applicants.
- Join various related projects and tasks as assigned, showcasing your versatility and contributing your expertise wherever needed.
Additional Physical Demands Position involves lifting and moving heavy boxes of recruiting materials.
Required Qualifications - - Bachelor's degree.
- Two or more years of professional experience in admissions, recruitment, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in program planning.
- Experience building a network of contacts and resources.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications - - Master's degree.
- Admissions and recruitment experience as a regional staff member at a similar higher education institution.
- Direct experience with undergraduate recruitment and outreach efforts.
- Proficiency in a language other than English, preferably Spanish.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - - Knowledge of Admissions at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
- Strong presentation and interpersonal communication skills.
- Understanding and commitment to affirmative action in educational access and employment.
- Interest in extensive travel and a schedule that accommodates the travel portion of the position.
- Ability to work independently and manage assignments, working remotely without the support of an on-site support staff.
- Fluency in a second language.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- A cooperative work style and strong personal initiative.
- Enthusiastic approach to work and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.

Appointment Information This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close of the search. Minimum salary for this position is $55k. We strive to provide a competitive salary, considering factors such as available market data, internal equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints. The final salary offer will be determined through a thorough assessment of these elements.
This is a remote position based in the Chicagoland area that requires travel. Work authorization sponsorship is not available for this position.
