Job description

Reports To:   Payroll Manager

 

Functions Supervised:   None

 

Primary Functions:   Balance and reconcile payroll related general ledger reconciliations for all companies. Ensure integrity of custodial accounts. Prepare monthly and ad hoc Personnel reporting. Reconcile bi-weekly and monthly payroll and prepare related journal entries.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  1. Ensure designated custodial accounts are reconciled monthly and corrections are made promptly. Communicate problems to Payroll Manager.
  2. Assist the Payroll Manager with implementation of new systems/enhancements.
  3. Assist Departments with compiling information for incentives.
  4. Provide accurate and timely account balances, transaction information and reconciliations as requested verifying reasonableness and ensuring conformance with established procedures.
  5. Prepare payroll related internal and compliance reporting.
  6. Prepare payroll journals and balance to payroll reporting.
  7. Prepare 401(k) wires and related detail reporting sent to benefit administrator.
  8. Prepare FSA report for vendor upload.
  9. Act as a backup for the Payroll Specialist.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education:   Three years of college level Accounting or equivalent.

 

Creditable Experience in Lieu of Education:   Three years experience in a bookkeeping position may be substituted for the three years of accounting.

 

Experience/Skills:   Two years experience as a full-charge bookkeeper with minimal supervision preferred. Thorough understanding of accounting and bookkeeping principles and procedures. Basic typing and proficiency with 10-key calculator. Experience with automated accounting systems and PC software including Excel and Access preferred.

 

Tenure:   Payroll Accountant II, Category 11, requires twelve months tenure in the Payroll Accountant I position with performance that meets or exceeds expectations. Directly related work experience and/or accelerated training completion may be substituted for tenure.

 

 

Salary Pay Range:

Starting base salary will be determined based on candidate experience, qualifications, education, and local or state wage requirements, if applicable and will fall within the range provided above.

 

In accordance with our Salary Administration policy, new hire base salaries generally fall within the minimum to midpoint of the listed range.
