Position Description:

The Department of Surgery Division of Acute Care Surgery at the University of Iowa is seeking a Director for the UI Burn Treatment Center.  Appointment will be for Associate of Full Professor in either the tenure or non-tenure clinical track.  The successful candidate may also be eligible for appointment to the Clara L. Smith Professorship of Burn Treatment.

Education Requirement:

Candidates must hold an MD, DO or equivalent degree, have completed ACGME accredited training in all phases of General Surgery.

Required Qualifications:

Extensive experience in the management and treatment of burns and related injuries is required.

Experience providing care as a member of a multi-disciplinary team is required.

Applicants with established research are preferred and appointment to the tenure track requires research experience at a level which enables procurement of outside funding.

Applicants will also need to demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills, possess a strong commitment to academic and clinical excellence, as well as demonstrate achievements in leadership, team building, performance improvement, and program development.

Certifications:

Board certification from the American Board of Surgery and licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of Iowa.  

Desirable Qualifications:

Ongoing experience in trauma and critical care is desirable.

Completion of subspecialty training in burns, critical care, and/or trauma is highly desirable.

Dedication to enhancing an inclusive workforce and academic environment is desired.
