Job description
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively and efficiently between the customer and the Customer Engineering team.
- Reside 3+ days per week at customer site(s) within Metro Detroit.
- Lead GKN Customer Engineering contact for customer pilot/mule build activities within Metro Detroit.
- Lead GKN Customer Engineering contact at customer proving ground activities within Metro Detroit (e.g. durability hoist reviews)
- Lead GKN Customer Engineering contact at customer assembly plant(s) within Metro Detroit (e.g. launch support topics)
- Attend and represent DL at the customer’s internal meetings.
- Network, gather & provide key intelligence on customer’s priorities, decisions and structure that influence GKN DL engineering activities.
- Contribute to design planning studies for potential new applications.
- Prepare technical information to support internal and external discussions.
- Interpret customer’s quotation and design alterations.
- Represent GKN Engineering with customer relations, expectations and ways of working.
- Work with the customer on CAD vehicle driveline layout and packaging.
- Work with the customer’s and DL’s APQP systems and procedures.
- Promote DL’s preferred design/engineering solutions at customer.
- Interface with the customer on vehicle design FMEAs.
- Operate as the main communication route for advanced technical and engineering information.
- Support other customer and DL activities as required by the Customer Engineering team (e.g. customer visit to GKN’s sites). Work as part of the DL team to carry out activities to reduce internal and external costs e.g VA/VE and manufacturing process changes.
Qualifications
- Bachelors in mechanical engineering
- 2+ years’ experience in a similar role
- Strong communication, problem solving, teamwork and organization talents.
- Must be able to work and travel independently. Must be Fluent in English
