ABOUT THE ROLE:

Under minimal supervision, the Senior Credit Analyst is responsible to provide in depth commercial credit analysis both in underwriting new member business loans as well as preparing annual loan reviews. The Senior Credit Analyst will focus on more complex loan transactions as well as annual loan reviews for the larger relationships in the commercial lending portfolio. Performs credit analysis for all types of commercial loans (CRE, C&I, and SBA) and analyzes financial statements for all types of borrowers in various industries.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  1. Prepares full annual loan reviews with a focus on the largest commercial borrowing relationships in the portfolio. Ensures that the credit department exceeds its annual target completion rate for full annual loan reviews.
  2. Works directly with Relationship Managers and the Senior Commercial Credit Officer to underwrite new business loans with an emphasis on larger more complicated credits. Prepares credit memorandums, line of credit renewals, and loan modification approvals, as needed.
  3. Performs advanced credit analysis of both individual and business tax returns and accountant prepared financial statements. Prepares UCA and global cash flow analysis. Develops and prepare spreadsheets and financial models to support credit analysis.
  4. Performs detailed collateral analysis for CRE loans secured by real estate and C&I loans secured by all business assets including loans subject to a borrowing base certificate.
  5. Compiles data and prepares other credit-related reports as directed by the Sr. Commercial Credit Officer. Assists in special projects as needed.
  6. Provides leadership and support by assisting teammates in answering questions, sharing knowledge, and reviewing credit write-ups and annual loan reviews to assist Sr. Commercial Credit Officer.
  7. Performs all job responsibilities as assigned by the Sr. Commercial Credit Officer in conformance with established Credit Union policies and procedures as well as in accordance with prescribed regulatory compliance guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

Bachelor's degree, in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related business field. Completion of formal commercial credit training with equivalent experience can be substituted for a degree.

Experience / Skills/Knowledge :

  1. Minimum of 3 years' experience (5 preferred) working in an advanced commercial credit analyst capacity with strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  2. PC proficient, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and the Internet.
  3. Strong writing skills with the ability to present complex credit issues in a clear, concise, and organized manner; monitors and checks work for accuracy and completeness in order to produce quality results.
  4. Solid understanding of business cash flow including UCA cashflow needed. Highly experienced in performing global cash flow analysis required. Must have a sound understanding and knowledge of commercial real estate appraisals including the Income Capitalization Approach.
  5. Must have the ability to verbally express ideas and recommendations effectively. Attentively listens to others to understand alternative points of view.
  6. Strong time management skills with ability to effectively manage competing deadlines required. Must be able to set priorities, goals, and timelines to achieve maximum productivity.
  7. Must have the ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints (internal & external).
  8. Must have strong service orientation skills in alignment with the Credit Union's mission and core values.
  9. Ability to work independently as well as collaborate as part of a team to achieve performance goals required. Ability to proactively seek performance feedback and identify approaches to improve own performance required.
  10. Must have the ability to assume responsibility, display initiative, exercise sound judgement, and act upon decisions with minimal supervision.
  11. Ability to function in a commercial office environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to fax, copier, telephone, etc. Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. e.g., file boxes.
