Summary of Responsibilities:
Under the general direction of the Children and Youth Supervisor, this role is responsible for providing case management services within the Children and Youth service system. Staff members are responsible for assessing the safety and well-being of children who are referred for services. Utilizing a strengths-based approach, caseworkers assist children and families in developing skills, identifying supports, and coordinating resources that contribute to the overall well-being of children and families. Services may be provided in family homes, in schools, and in the community. At times, caseworkers have the responsibility to work with various individuals from the legal system and law enforcement as it pertains to the safety and well-being of children. This can include providing testimony in court on behalf of the agency.
Caseworkers are responsible for managing their assigned caseloads. As goals are achieved and safety risks are reduced, services may be closed. Given the nature of the work, no two days are alike and an ability to be adaptable, flexible, and resourceful is essential.
Caseworkers are provided with extensive training to ensure that staff members have the needed knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work required. On-call service and work outside normal business hours are required. Caseworkers enjoy flexible schedules to accommodate these requirements.
