Your Specific Responsibilities:

This is a highly responsible data processing position in the Surveillance Systems Section. This position is under the supervision of the Data Systems Unit Manager in the Surveillance Systems Section. This position requires working confidentially, independently, and accurately with Merlin, Florida’s reportable disease database.

 

This position is responsible for being the data entry team lead. This position ensures that the paper lab results are being entered and processed in a timely manner. This position updates the data entry process standard operating procedures (SOP). and performs quality assurance of the data entry process. Be knowledgeable of current data entry processes and SOPs, provide customer service to applicable sites, and keep them appraised of any revisions.

 

This position serves as the Merlin Help Desk backup. Duties for the Merlin Help Desk include but are not limited to, assisting with Merlin User Groups, providing assistance to Merlin users, and ensuring the proper protocols are being followed when adding and expiring users.

 

Ensures intrastate reciprocal notification of diseases to other state health departments is completed, and data enters paper laboratory results into Merlin. Ensures that any incoming mail or electronic faxes related to laboratory surveillance are processed and routed to the appropriate locations, including out-of-state mail, county mail, or data entry into Merlin.

 

Assists with data clean-up and year-end reconciliation of data with the Centers for Disease Control or any other entity, as applicable. Duties include coordinating data cleanup with county health departments and staff at the state office, performing the necessary updates, and working with the Merlin team to ensure updates are made as needed on the development side of Merlin.

 

Conducts regular Merlin Training Tuesday trainings. Ensures meeting invitations are delivered, presentation materials are shared with the group, and meetings run on time as scheduled.

 

Performs other duties as assigned.
