Job Description and Duties

Are you looking for a fast-paced and challenging position that will provide you with extremely valuable mainframe experience, extensive variety, and frequent exposure to managers and staffs in the Information Technology Branch (ITB)? The Employment Development Department (EDD) is looking for a highly motivated and qualified individual to work in the Mainframe Benefit Services Section (MBSS) in the EDD ITB Application Services Division (ASD).

As a member of the MBSS, you will be the customer liaison and mainframe programmer responsible for maintaining complex mainframe applications that support Unemployment Insurance, Disability Insurance, Benefit Accounting, and Employer Wage Reporting Systems. You will be working in a team or independently to collaborate with business users and developers on new applications and maintaining existing systems.

This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for telework under EDD's telework policy. Employees are required to report to their headquarters office, as needed. Travel expenses to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee.

Position is located at EDD's Headquarters office at 800 Capitol Mall, Sacramento, California.

Statement of Qualifications Requirements

A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is Required. The SOQ serves as documentation of each candidate’s ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing.  The SOQ is not a resume or cover letter.

A SOQ will be considered the first phase of the hiring process for this position. If your qualifications are competitive, you will be invited to an interview. The SOQ should be typed and not more than two pages in length, not less than 12 point font, single-spaced, including your first and last name at the top of the pages. The SOQ must include responses to the statements below in the exact order presented.

1. Describe your experience developing and/or maintaining mainframe applications. Include all relevant (COBOL/DB2/CICS/JCL) experience that demonstrates your ability.
2. Describe your experience working in team environments, leading team(s), and driving projects and/or assignments with multiple stakeholders.
