Location : Pasadena, TX, US
Summary:
This position provides support, maintenance, and solution development at the Pasadena, Texas refinery environment with a focus on real-time data systems (Aveva / OSI Soft PI). The position offers a wonderful opportunity to work closely with end users, operators, and engineers in the creation and support of systems that address operational needs.
The position specializes in supporting and maintaining the Aveva / OSI Soft PI ecosystem at the Pasadena refinery, including the PI Data Archive (Historian), PI Asset Framework, and PI Vision, as well as various additional OT (Operational Technology) applications hosted on the PCN (Process Control Network). This application engineer is required to have 5 7 yeas of related experience in the following:
Key Responsibilities:
o Provide day-to-day production support for the Aveva PI system including the PI Data Archive, PI Asset Framework, and PI Vision.
o Supporting and troubleshooting application infrastructure in segmented network environments (example: PCN to DMZ to business domain) conforming to the Purdue Model.
o Troubleshooting and supporting Microsoft Windows 2016 / 2019 / 2022 servers (IaaS) in single-server virtual and physical configurations.
o Automating tasks through scripting (example: PowerShell)
o Working in Agile ways, such as utilizing a structured DevOps management tool to coordinate work (example: Azure DevOps).
o Assist end users with the use of PI tools including PI System Explorer (to build PI AF templates, calculations, event frames, etc.), PI Vision for creation of displays, and other PI end user client tools such as PI DataLink.
o Assist with monthly server patches and other information and risk compliance related tasks.
o Perform root cause analysis along with recommending and implementing preventive techniques as required.
o Develop and maintain effective application technical support documentation including procedures.
o Work directly with vendors and IT entities to troubleshoot and resolve issue.
Required Skills:
o Demonstrated expertise with the Aveva PI ecosystem of tools, such as managing PI Servers, configuring PI tags, configuring PI Asset Framework environments, creating/supporting PI Process Book files, and creating/supporting PI Vision visualizations.
o Demonstrated experience testing, deploying, and supporting Operational Technology applications in an industrial environment.
o Demonstrated experience collaborating with centralized support teams in a ticket-driven environment and driving shared service groups to accomplish technical tasks.
