Job description
Job Title: Casting Superintendent
Classification: Exempt
Department: Casting
Reports To: Casting Manager
Purpose: Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining QS900 and TS16949 quality systems and audits; product launches; managing workplace layout, process improvements, corrective actions, equipment efficiency, workflow, scrap reduction, cost improvements, and product quality. Daily, Weekly and Monthly tracking.
General Duties: - Support day to day operations
- Help manage and develop Supervisors and Formans on day to day operations
- Requires constant physical activity throughout shift(except breaks and lunch) such as walking, sitting, standing, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, handling, near/far vision, pushing, pulling, carrying, and lifting objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Responsible for supporting PPAP procedures, control plans, inspection standards, APQP, FMEA, process flow, and continuous improvement
- Responsible for implementing and maintaining QS9000 and TS16949 quality systems and conducting quality audits
- Die and machine improvements, casting condition adjustments, casting process arrangement.
- Responsible for creating and revised Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions
- Maintain visual inspection standards and resolving product quality issues
- Develops and implements plans for continuous overall equipment effectiveness (OEE); improve yields, uptime and cycle times of equipment, improve product flow, and cost reduction
- Participates in launch planning and implementation of new products
- Maintain quality data, charts, reports and records
- Daily, Weekly and Monthly Reports for Quality and Production
- Consumables Inventory and Management of Consumables
- Support in yearly department budget planning and tracking
- Communication between shifts to coordinate solutions, trials, and various issues that need to be supported
- Work and coordinate with outside vendors for trialing and implementing projects
- Manage and coordinate various projects
- Work with all internal KAAP departments to coordinate improvements, downtime issues and provide support for projects
- Assist in developing and implementing training, skill evaluation for Casting Operators
- Have flexible hours to support production as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Skills: - Self- starter, multi-tasked and detailed oriented, excellent computer and math skills
- Requires working in extreme temperatures
- Observes all safety rules
- Observes Kaizen and 5S procedures
Requirements: - 5+ years’ experience in casting manufacturing preferred
- Excellent Microsoft skills (Excel, Word, Charts and Graphs, Power Point)
- Able to work Overtime as needed to support production
- Very organized
- Flexible schedules
