Job description
Responsibilities:
- Subject Matter Expert level understanding of NFPA with ability to consult an organization or project on meeting specific requirements.
- Provide fire protection design for DOE and DoD governmental facilities.
- Independently applies extensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and relates fields.
- Works on projects of moderate scope with complex features.
- Receives supervision and guidance relating to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters.
- Design tasks include Conceptual Studies, Program Requirements, Design Analyses, Calculations, Equipment selection and layout, and System selection and layout.
- Ensures internal communication and coordination of design efforts.
- Coordinate support activities required to complete design efforts and quality assurance processes.
- Work with other disciplines to ensure accuracy of the package, meet schedule, and budget commitments.
- Meet with clients to prepare and/or validate proposed scope of work.
- Prepare labor-hour proposals for fire protection design work.
- Meets expectations for attendance and punctuality.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from A.B.E.T. Accredited Program in Fire Protection, Mechanical, Architectural, or Electrical Engineering with experience in Fire Protection.
- Uses advanced techniques in the modification or extension of theories and practices of sciences and disciplines to complete assignments.
- Experience with building and fire safety code analysis, fire dynamic analysis, and fire risk analysis is required.
- Must have a minimum of eight (8) to twelve (12) years of related experience and/or training.
- Candidate must be capable of and willing to obtain a Q clearance.
- Client projects for this position require US Citizenship.
