Kelly Science and Clinical FSP is currently seeking a Distribution
Planning Specialist for a long-term engagement in Rahway, NJ or West Point, PA with one of our Global Pharmaceutical clients. This is a hybrid position. This person will join our Kelly FSP (Functional Service Provider) division, a managed solution provider and business unit of Kelly Services, Inc. The Distribution Planning Specialist will be responsible for supporting and work cross-functionally with Clinical Supply Planning, Master Planning, Clinical Operations, Country Clinical Operations, CMOs/CROs, Logistics, Regulatory, Relationship Management, Business Analytics, MRL Finance, Trade Operations, and Trade Compliance to support and plan distribution for Clinical Trial Material utilizing approved depot networks. Act as the Distribution Planner and perform initial distribution siting strategies for protocols. Communicate with all constituents and be the advocate for the distribution strategy for clinical trials. In addition to typical distribution planning activities, the individual will also be accountable for lead-time and routing development and management in SAP, cost analysis for distribution network selection, process development, tool building, capacity scheduling and siting decisions, and strategic direction of the MRL business as relating to distribution and transportation logistics.
Responsibilities:
Ownership of SAP-related processes that Distribution Planning is accountable
Project Leader for both internal and cross-functional projects
Subject Matter Expert in cGMP
Ability to function in a team environment and pursue information when it is not readily available.
Plan and perform initial distribution siting strategies for more complex protocols and work on special projects
Communicate with all constituents and be the advocate for the clinical trial distribution strategy
Perform monthly reconciliation of distribution siting strategies and update distribution plans
Partner with Clinical Supply Planning, Clinical Operations and Logistics to oversee and build distribution planning documents for clinical study protocols
Represent Distribution Planning at internal communication meetings
Serve as the functional area expert (SME) on country shipping and trade compliance, distribution routes, country and global distribution challenges
Work with GCS, Logistics, Trade Operations, and Country Operations to manage and expedite shipments, customs clearance, and help develop process improvement programs for global distribution warehouse
Adherence to regulatory, global and site policies and procedures governing operations activities are critical
Qualifications:
BA/BS Degree strongly preferred
Logistics, temperature control management, International Trade, International Economics/Finance, International Relations (preferred)
5 – 7 year’s work experience in clinical trials or pharmaceuticals
Experience with international shipping paperwork, international shipments and custom agents
Preferred Skills:
Experience with temperature control practices
SAP and ERP system experience
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Formulation, Packaging, Clinical Supply Planning, Clinical Operations, Country Operations, CRO, Regulatory, Trade Compliance, Global Logistics and third-party providers.
Ability to interact with management to advocate the distribution planning strategy.
Familiarity with international supply chain constituents; brokers, freight forwarders, freight providers, carriers, CMOs/CROs, and depot/warehouse providers.
Detail understanding of; the clinical supply trial business, clinical supply packaging, kits and labeling activities, blinding activities, randomization for studies and the urgency of clinical distribution.
Experience with international shipping and the understanding of international distribution channels and strategy (i.e. country/regional depots vs. direct-to-site).
Experience with MS Word, Excel, Web Applications, ERP systems (SAP, JDE).
Experience working with U.S. governmental regulatory agencies (Customs, BIS, Department of Commerce, FDA, USDA, etc.).
Experience working with international customers and regulatory agencies.
Experience in the pharmaceutical or chemical industry.
