Summary of Role:
The Workforce Development Sr. Lead will be located in Malta, NY. This is an external facing role that connects the regional education ecosystem to GlobalFoundries’ workforce needs, through relationship building, advisement, and program management. This role will work closely with our talent acquisition and university recruiting teams, government relations, corporate communications, and business leaders, to build the talent pipeline needed in the semiconductor industry.
Essential Responsibilities:
Leverage close relationships with key leaders in K-12, CTE and P-TECH programs in the Capital Region, community colleges in the immediate and surrounding regions, and universities in New York; build the talent pipeline by engaging and advising on key programs, curriculum, sponsorships and investments.
Drive workforce development grant funding engagements, including CHIPS Program Office, Department of Labor, Apprenticeship Expansion Grants, etc.
Manage the GlobalAmbassadors program, GF's volunteer base for K-12 education outreach, and coordinate K-12 STEM education outreach in the Capital Region community
Plan and execute onsite faculty visits, student tours, and high school job shadow students at the Malta location
Partner with GF’s Registered Apprenticeship program coordinators in Malta and Burlington on relationship and needs with external instruction provider, apprenticeship sponsor and intermediary
Work closely with GF’s corporate communications, government relations, and internal business leaders to align and support workforce development initiatives
Share best practices and regularly connect with GF workforce development leaders in Burlington, VT, Dresden, Germany and other global locations
Engage with workforce development leaders in the Capital Region through membership on Saratoga-Washington-Warren Workforce Development Board, Center for Economic Growth Manufacturing Advisory Board, FIRST Robotics executive advisory board, and other opportunities
Engage with semiconductor industry partners in the NY region to approach talent pipeline building together as a semiconductor ecosystem
Participate in nationwide industry workforce development panels and committees, including ASIC and SIA
Other Responsibilities:
Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Public Policy, Communications, Marketing or related field
7+ years work experience, with 3 years in the educational or workforce development field
Excellent public speaking skills
Excellent relationship building and management skills
Excellent program management skills
Ability to work cross-functionally across teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Education, Public Policy, Communications or related field
10+ years work experience, with 5 years in the educational or workforce development field.
Expected Salary Range
$92,100.00 - $174,900.00
