Job Description
Marist High School, a Catholic co-ed school located on the southside of Chicago, is currently seeking a highly qualified individual for the position of Religion teacher for the 2024-25 academic year. The position is full-time with a class load of five sections. Marist High School is a Roman Catholic, coed high school, with a mission to make Jesus Christ known and loved in the Marist Brothers’ tradition, while preparing students for higher education and life. Minimum Requirements
- Commitment to the Marist Brothers’ principles as set forth in Marist’s mission statement
- Illinois Professional Educator's Licence preferred
- Master’s Degree preferred.
Minimum Competencies
- Ability to teach all levels of high school Science and specifically, Chemistry
- Effective and positive communication and collaboration skills
- Teaching experience in Chemistry preferred
- Experience teaching in a 1:1 iPad environment
Essential Responsibilities
- Teaching and leading students in accordance with the mission of Marist High School
- Ability to utilize technology to increase engagement in the classroom
- Collaborate with departmental colleagues in the development of an academically challenging and experientially relevant Science curriculum
- Participating in departmental and school-wide professional development
- Promote a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages a sense of belonging and is conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that encourage problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Translate these lesson plans into engaging, relevant learning experiences that instruct students while also challenging them in order to promote a growth mindset, resilience, and inquisitiveness.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and progress and use data to modify instructional methods to address student needs.
- Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement, and attendance.
- Proactively communicate with all stakeholders, including but not limited to, students, parents, support staff and department colleagues in support of student learning and growth
