Position Description:
This position works with the organization's Chief Engagement Officer to plan, design, and implement philanthropic strategies. Establishes and cultivates relationships which will help to expand, strengthen, and diversify a stable donor base and pipeline. Cultivates both internal and external relationships to support the implementation and management of major campaigns and strategies for major gifts, corporate, foundation, and planned giving. Collaborates with Chief Engagement Officer to assemble, manage, and motivate a staff of philanthropy professionals. Personally, identifies prospects and solicits major and planned gifts as appropriate.

•Sr. Director of Philanthropy
•Director of Philanthropy

Responsibilities:
•Develops and cultivates relationships with prospects, donors, other key community members and organizations as part of an overall strategy to further the philanthropic strategy.
•Oversee the planning, coordinating, and staffing of fundraising activities and strategic initiatives including major gifts, legacy gifts and planned giving.
•Provide the leadership necessary to nurture and develop Directors of Philanthropy and create long range plans of action for financial strength, philanthropic support and maintaining systems for donor outreach.
•Develops metrics and benchmarks to measure the success of philanthropic activities.
•Following plans approved by the Chief Engagement Officer, develops, and executes funding proposals.
•Oversees funding sources, monitors trends, and works with Chief Engagement Officer to adjust strategies accordingly.
•Monitors and reports regularly on the progress of philanthropic campaigns.
•Helps foster a culture of philanthropy within the organization.
•Provides support to selected Board committees to help achieve committee goals.
•Acts as the organization representative with the Council of Professional Advisors.
•Serves as a highly visible representative of the organization to maximize funding opportunities.
•Personally solicits major and planned gifts as appropriate.
•Other duties and responsibilities of being a member of a leadership team.

Skills and Knowledge:
•Must possess skills and abilities typically achieved through 10 years of professional fund development experience in a nonprofit organization.
•Strong organizational skills, excellent communication skills and the ability to influence a diverse donor population.
•Ability to construct, articulate, and implement annual and multi-year strategic plans.
•Ability to interact positively and in a sensitive, personalized manner with major donors and leadership in person, via e-mail, and by phone.
•Possess strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
•Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a strong ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships.
•Flexible and adaptable style; a leader who can positively impact both strategic and tactical initiatives.
•Technological strength, including familiarity with donor management systems.

Education and Experience:
•Bachelor's degree or higher in business or related equivalent experience.
•Experience and a high level of comfort in dealing with a diverse group of individuals, i.e., corporate leaders, community leaders, government officials, agency leaders and volunteers.
•Successful cultivation and solicitation experience closing six- and seven-figure gifts from prospects and donors.
•Minimum three years' experience leading teams with proven success in fundraising program management.
•Experience in team-based, cross-functional work environments with effective and respectful communication as a top priority.
•Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) certification preferred.
•Prior experience in raising funds for healthcare entities, research, and/or medical education.
•Previous experience developing and implementing strategic development plans.
•Previous management experience and familiarity with fundraising software to track prospects and measure progress against goals.
•Familiarity with healthcare operations preferred.
•Additional related education and/or experience preferred.

Travel:
•25-50% across all Sun Health locations (from Litchfield Park to Surprise/Sun City West)
