Job Description and Duties

California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) seeks to fill Permanent/Full Time Staff Services Manager (SSM) I Specialist position(s) in the Performance Management Unit (PMU). Under the general direction of the SSM II, PMU, the SSM I (Specialist) is responsible for providing guidance and expertise to management and supervisors in areas involving employee performance and administration of the department’s disciplinary process impacting mental health, dental, and medical staff at the institutions and within CCHCS . This assignment has extensive travel, approximately 30%.

NOTE:  Training and Development (T&D) assignments will not be considered for this recruitment.

Candidates new to CCHCS/Division of Health Care Services (DHCS) are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting to obtain Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation clearances prior to employment.

Persons appointed to this position must be reasonably expected to exert up to 10lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.  Involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
