Genus PLC has an exciting opportunity. We are looking for an IVF Lab Assistant to support our commercial IVF embryo business. Our mission is to be an innovative and preferred partner in emerging agricultural livestock technology focusing on animal health and welfare that provides benefits to farmers, consumers and the environment. This position is located in our Sioux Falls, SD lab. The IVF Lab Assistant has primary accountability for aiding the embryology team with daily tasks related to the production of bovine IVF embryos as well as organizing and purchasing supplied and equipment.
- Assist the embryology team with daily routines including but not limited to preparation of materials, data recording, and equipment calibration and setup.
- Support the both the lab and field teams with organization of supplies and work with the teams to forecast needs based on production trends.
- Procure supplies and equipment, which includes creating purchase orders, communicating with vendors, and negotiating pricing.
- Assist in the coordination and preparation of materials for daily in vitro production routines – in vitro fertilization and in vitro culture dish preparation (including label generation via Microsoft Excel and Brady Workstation), in vitro maturation tubes, and media preparation.
- Support the embryology team with the cryopreservation of IVF embryos, which includes creating labels adhering to IETS guidelines, recording relevant data, and storage of cryopreserved embryos.
- Work with clientele, ABS affiliate sites, and other team members to organize routine shipments of embryos and semen.
- Coordinate the shipment of any necessary supplies and media needed by ABS affiliate sites (ET locations, partner OPU sites, etc.).
- Assist in the calibration and maintenance of key lab equipment such as incubators, autoclave(s), laminar flow hoods, centrifuge, and stereoscopes.
- Support various data-related tasks, including inventory reconciliation and procurement of necessary IETS guideline information.
- Understand the importance of standardized data recording and works to support consistency within the IVF laboratory.

Basic Qualifications: (required)
- High School diploma required.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
- Advanced English skills required. This position will be responsible for communicating with supply and equipment vendors and, at times, ABS Global clientele.
- Exceptional follow-through consistently demonstrating ability to organize work for timely completion.
- Ability to learn and understand various software and computer programs.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and works with a positive attitude towards others.
- Keen acknowledgment for the importance of procedure timing as it relates to production schedules and biological development.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a laboratory or equivalent production environment.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, especially in Excel and Outlook
- Previous experience working for a company in the biotechnology and/or agriculture industry beneficial.
