Under general supervision, performs a variety of routine to intermediate purchasing activities for staff and physicians in an efficient/courteous manner while providing the best value to Optum and supporting the clinics Core Values. Including processing requisitions, issuing purchase orders, vendor management and issue resolution.
Flexible hours: Monday – Friday hours can be between 6 am to 5:30 pm
Primary Responsibilities:
- Processes requisitions, reviews approval authority, performs simple to complex problem solving in relation to these duties. Coordinates orders which may include researching and recommending options, vendor selection, working directly with managers and administrators, for the buyers
- designated departments and vendors
- Check for outdated medications and supplies and removes from inventory, as required. Restock medications as they arrive to the facility
- Maintains appropriate and accurate product, vendor pricing and purchase order records.
- Assists in the evaluation of alternate vendors and medications. Works with the drug buying team and the clinical pharmacist on drug supply issues and medication-related projects
- Effectively communicates the plan for medication shortages and product substitution or replacement which may include webpage, dashboards, face to face, email and other communication formats
- Responsible for running queries and analyzing and reporting data. Review’s vendor pricing and performance on a regular basis
- Responsible to Accounting staff for any discrepancies and/or invoice concerns and resolving issues in a timely manner

- Frequently must follow written and oral instructions as well as complete routine tasks independently
- Completes annual compliance training on HIPAA/Privacy/Confidentiality/Non-Discrimination/Harassment/Integrity Statement and signs Agreements
- Ensures confidentiality of patient information following HIPAA guidelines and TEC policies.
- Attends training to meet requirements of the job position and as needed or mandated by TEC policies, Div. of Occupational Safety & Health (DOSH), OSHA, L&I and other state/federal regulations
- Has regular and predictable attendance

Required Qualifications:
- 1+ years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician OR 1+ years of Medical Assistant experience stocking and ordering medications
- Current valid Washington State driver’s license
- Experience using Word
- Proven intermediate level Excel and Outlook
- Ability to lift 25 lbs.
- Ability to travel 25% locally
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pharmacy Technician license in the State of Washington or completion of a Washington State commission-approved training program designed to prepare persons to perform nondiscretionary functions associated with the practice of pharmacy; or a degree in pharmacy or medicine of a foreign school, university, or college recognized by the commission
- Knowledge of purchasing and contract administration practices
- Hospital inpatient experience
- Experience with IV medications

Washington Residents Only: The hourly range for Washington residents is $19.47 to $38.08 per hour.
