Job description
The Calais School is a state approved, highly therapeutic special education school for students in grades K through 12 Plus with multiple learning disabilities as well as anxiety, mood, behavior and autism spectrum disorders. We are currently looking for a Occupational Therapist to work with our students. This position offers the opportunity for the occupational therapist to work with our Animal Assisted Intervention program during therapies.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing occupational therapy services to students as defined in the student's IEP.
- Review and maintain files for students receiving occupational therapy services, and directly communicate to The Calais School case manager regarding the student's IEP requirements and/or required status reports.
- Screen occupational therapy skills for students upon the written referral of faculty, and will refer students through the case manager for needed services.
- Monitor progress of students receiving occupational therapy services, including periodic observations in the classroom.
- Serve as a resource person at The Calais School.
- Provide in-service workshops for school staff when necessary as part of the school Professional Staff Development Program, or as an information meeting on concepts and techniques.
PM21 Requirements
Must be certified as a New Jersey School Occupational Therapist
