Job description
Digital Content Specialist Primary Purpose: Reporting to the Digital Manager in the University Strategic Communications Office, the Digital Content Specialist is responsible for creating and managing content for university websites and other related digital properties. This role may collaborate with social media roles, but this role itself is not a social media-forward role.
This role will work with team leadership to strategize and execute digital initiatives in service of University of the Pacific's brand and our partners across the university. This includes high priority projects such as those initiated by the President's Office that further Pacific's brand reach and reputation and assisting our Enrollment team and Academic division in the recruitment of prospective students. The Content Specialist will also work with our CMS content authors and review, edit, and approve their submitted content for accuracy, grammar, clarity and consistency with university style and strategic brand messaging. Works with faculty, staff and others to assess and address web needs, including improving current content and processes, and assisting in the creation of new digital properties or web pages. This position may also be called upon to conduct research reports and data analysis that will help improve digital content as well as assisting in coming up with and executing SEO strategies.
Essential Functions: - Creates digital content for Pacifics online properties in support of university priorities and brand marketing.
- Gathers, edits, approves and updates new and existing web content for accuracy, clarity, consistency, grammar, style guidelines and strategic messaging.
- Collects and reports on web traffic and UX data from SEO and A/B testing tools to assess content performance.
- Provides digital content best practices, technical support, and training to website authors in other university departments.
- Act as a project lead for independent research and content creation projects, under the guidance of the Digital Manager, mapping out a timeline and methodology to present defined deliverables by a specified date.
- Contribute to the projects of other Strat Comm team members with keyword research, content implementation, content testing, and other tasks as assigned.
- Implements the designs from the digital designer into the content management system.
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelors Degree in marketing, communications, journalism or related discipline.
- Two (2) years of demonstrated experience in digital communications, digital marketing, or writing and managing web content.
- One (1) year of experience working with content management systems such as Drupal/Word Press.
- One (1) year of experience with SEO tasks, including keyword research, content optimization, etc.
Preferred Qualifications: - Excellent communication skills and ability to train others on technical concepts and procedures.
- Knowledge of working in higher education.
- Experience pulling data from analytics tools and conducting data analysis.
- Experience with SEO tools such as Semrush.
- Attention to detail and adhering to tight timelines.
- Ability to trouble shoot and problem solve.
- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Work performed during standard business hours.
Hiring Range: $23.90 - $31.67/hour. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidates qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
