VP of Legal

Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Regional Vice President of Legal to join our team and lead our legal department. Reporting directly to the Global General Counsel, the VP will be responsible for overseeing all legal affairs of the client within their designated region, providing strategic legal guidance, managing legal risk, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

**Key Responsibilities:**

1. Legal Strategy and Compliance:

– Develop and implement the client’s legal strategy in alignment with its overall business objectives.

– Provide expert legal advice and guidance to senior management and various business units.

– Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.

2. Contract Management:

– Oversee the drafting, negotiation, and review of a wide range of contracts, including commercial agreements, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.

– Develop and maintain contract templates and standard operating procedures to streamline the contracting process.

3. Litigation and Dispute Resolution:

– Manage all litigation matters, including disputes, claims, and regulatory investigations.

– Collaborate with external counsel as necessary to represent the client’s interests in legal proceedings.

4. Corporate Governance:

– Advise on corporate governance matters and ensure compliance with corporate governance best practices.

– Support the Board of Directors and Board committees on legal and regulatory matters.

5. Risk Management:

– Identify legal risks and proactively develop strategies to mitigate them.

– Implement risk management policies and procedures to protect the client’s interests.

6. Intellectual Property:

– Manage the client’s intellectual property portfolio, including trademarks, patents, and copyrights.

– Ensure the protection of intellectual property rights and the enforcement of such rights when necessary.

7. Team Leadership and Development:

– Lead, mentor, and develop a team of legal professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous learning.

– Allocate resources effectively to support the legal department’s goals and objectives.

**Qualifications:**

– Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

– Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction.

– Minimum of 7 years of experience practicing law, with significant experience in a corporate legal environment.

– Strong knowledge of corporate law, commercial contracts, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance.

– Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

– Proven ability to think strategically, solve complex legal problems, and make sound decisions under pressure.

– Experience managing a team of legal professionals and working effectively with external counsel.
