Job description

Job Summar yAdminister the campus-wide student conduct system and Student Conduct Code. Develop and coordinate educational programs for students and staff. Provide assistance to the Director of Residential Life and Student Conduct & Community Standards and members of Residential Life and Student Conduct & Community Standards Management Team in matters related to the conduct system and the Student Conduct Code. Supervision

This position reports to the Director of Residential Life & Student Conduct and Community Standards. This position provides day-to-day direction, guidance and supervision to the professional and paraprofessional staff assigned to the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards as well as indirect supervision of professional and paraprofessional Residential Life staff.

Essential Duties

Duties may include but are not limited to the following (other duties may be assigned):

  1. Provide leadership for the Student Conduct & Community Standards Office. Collaborate with the Director of Residential Life and Student Conduct & Community Standards in the areas of policy development, administration, and program design for the campus conduct system and the Student Conduct Code. Research campus conduct and behavioral trends to benchmark against best practices in the field.
  2. Assist with the development, evaluation, revision, and dissemination of the Student Conduct Code.
  3. Coordinate written and oral communication of policies and procedures related to the conduct process.
  4. Supervise one professional staff Area Operations Coordinator and indirectly supervise multiple student Office Assistants. 
  5. Provide oversight, guidance, and training for professional and student staff regarding incident documentation, case management, and administration.
  6. Manage the campus conduct software system (Maxient) and oversee the maintenance of all student conduct records. Collaborate with and train campus partners in the use of the software system.
  7. Review and process all violations of the Student Conduct Code and coordinate the adjudication of all conduct cases. Serve as higher-level hearing officer.
  8. Coordinate and chair Conduct Review Board hearings.
  9. Assist with the resolution of major departmental issues presented by students, parents, staff, and other college offices; initiate written communication of conduct decisions to students and other appropriate parties; maintain a sensitivity to potential legal problems related to the campus conduct system and consult with the Director of Residential Life and Student Conduct & Community Standards, Dean of Students, Vice President for Students Affairs and/or College Counsel when appropriate.
  10. Oversee the Academic Misconduct process and coordinate outreach work with faculty regarding academic integrity and the utilization of the conduct system to address instances of academic dishonesty.
  11. Partner with the Title IX Coordinator regarding cases of alleged sexual misconduct, domestic/dating violence, or stalking that proceed through the conduct system. Chair Conduct Review Boards for cases of alleged sexual misconduct, domestic/dating violence, or stalking. Serve as a member of the Title IX SHARE Advisory Committee and Policy, Procedure, and Practice Committee.
  12. Collaborate with the Center for Health Promotion regarding matters of substance use and the BASICS Program. Review incident reports and determine students who are eligible for the Medical Amnesty Program. Serve as a member of the Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention Team.
  13. Coordinate the flow of incident reports from the Office of Public Safety to the conduct system and have regular communication with the Associate Director/Deputy Chief and Administrative Lieutenant regarding cases.
  14. Collaborate with the staff in ICare and Student Support to determine students who will be referred through the conduct process. Serve as a member of ICARE (Behavior Intervention Team) to assess and discuss the most helpful plan for students of concern.
  15. Develop and facilitate informational sessions for parents and students concerning the conduct system and the Student Conduct Code during Orientation and other appropriate sessions.
  16. Assist in the preparation and maintenance of the Student Conduct & Community Standards budget.
  17. Participate in recruitment, selection, and evaluation of professional and student staff focusing on their ability to participate in the administration of the campus conduct system. Monitor work performance for accuracy and completeness to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures in matters of Student Conduct & Community Standards.
  18. Serve in the Residential Life & Student Conduct & Community Standards Management Team on call rotation for 4,500 students residing in campus residence halls and apartments. Provide direction to the professional and para-professional on campus duty staff and respond to crisis situations in accordance with departmental and institutional emergency procedures.
  19. Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and engagement as a college priority, communicate to employees an expectation of behavior that is respectful and inclusive when interacting with all staff, faculty, students and visitors and promote a flexible, collaborative and inclusive work and living environment.
  20. Serve as liaison with other campus offices in matters related to Student Conduct and Community Standards and serve on departmental, divisional, and College-wide committees as appropriate.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Leadership or Counseling or related field and a minimum of five years conduct experience required. Demonstrated ability to plan, implement and evaluate educational student programs; proven leadership abilities and conduct experience; proven success working with a diverse student population in an advising or mentoring role; ability to cultivate an inclusive and welcoming environment; ability to treat all people equitably; demonstrated ability to hold others accountable for behavior that is supportive of a community that is diverse and inclusive; excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to represent the College effectively within and outside of the college community are required. Work Environment  Most of the work of this position is carried out within a generally accessible indoor environment. The incumbent will be required to operate a personal computer and associated equipment such as a computer printer as well as other office equipment used in the day-to-day operations. The incumbent will be required to attend workshops, conferences or other developmental meetings and seminars, campus events and respond to emergency situations during and after normal business hours. Hiring Range

$72,000 to $76,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
