Job description

We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in systems management, collaborating with Linux/UNIX/Windows system administration, networking teams, application development, and internet development teams. Your responsibilities will encompass system installation, OS patch management, system integration, application administration, systems architecture and design, and routine system maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

Implementing and supporting Oracle PCA, Xsigo, Oracle Converged network, and Oracle ZFS Appliance.
Resolving common issues in Private Cloud Appliance (PCA) and ZFS appliance.
Setting up monitoring for Private Cloud Appliance and ZFS appliance.
Diagnosing and troubleshooting Private Cloud Appliance and ZFS appliance.
Performing intermediate to advanced-level Unix systems administration activities, including the installation and configuration of servers and application components.
Diagnosing unique and complex system, network, and application issues in collaboration with other IT teams.
Installing related program products and support tools.
Installing operating system patches in coordination with the database administrator and applications support staff.
Utilizing virtualization technologies such as Oracle VM, VMware, Solaris LDOM, and Zones.
Developing and maintaining support tools and utilities using scripting or other programming languages to automate processes and enhance application environments.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 6 years of experience in UNIX and system software installation, customization, and support.
Proficiency in Solaris 10 & 11 and x86 servers running Redhat Linux.
Experience with Linux mail servers (Sendmail/Postfix), RedHat, and OEL.
Familiarity with Virtualization Technologies (OVM, OLVM, VMware, Solaris LDOM, and/or Zones).
Hands-on experience with Oracle VM (OVM) infrastructure.
Consulting experience is required.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with Oracle ZFS and Oracle PCA.
Familiarity with Oracle Linux Virtualization (OLVM) infrastructure.
Knowledge of Oracle Hardware family (x86, SPARC, and Storage).
Exposure to Apache Web Servers, Solaris, Linux patch management, Juniper switches, Disaster Recovery, and Business Continuity in Unix environments.
Working knowledge of Oracle Engineered Systems (ODA, Exalytics, Exadata), Oracle Enterprise Linux.
Experience with NAS or SAN storage.
General understanding of relational databases (schemas, metadata, relationships, procedures, functions, and triggers).
Proficiency in PERL and shell scripting.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or Computer Information Systems, or equivalent work experience. Minimum of 6+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
