REPORTS TO:                                                    Wellness Program Director

 

The Wellness Safety Specialist will develop, coordinate and maintain Wellness efforts to reducing the incidence of violence against women. Programming includes but is not limited to the Green Dot Bystander Intervention training with the Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault (CDVSA), Community Safety Patrol, Safe Home Partnership with Bering Sea Women’s Group (BSWG), Annual Choose Respect Rally, and Annual regional gathering on Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault.

 

BRIEF SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Participate in ongoing Wellness Department planning to coordinate programming in accord with other Wellness Department events.
  2. Develop and maintain regional partnerships to coordinate, implement and track program activities
  3. Report progress, highlights, challenges, and recommendations with Supervisor, Regional Wellness Forum, & Community Alcohol Safety Team.
  4. Develop and submit program reports as required by the organization and funding agency.
  5. Work with local coalitions, partners, and granting agencies to develop and maintain a system for data collection and analysis to create an effective program and evaluate services.
  6. Arrange travel for Wellness Program as needed for trainings and meetings.
  7. Coordinate Safety Patrol during New Year’s, PFD days, and Iditarod
  8. Coordinate an annual Choose Respect Rally or similar event in each community
  9. Coordinate with local Green Dot Bystander Intervention trainers and CDVSA to plan and assist with implementation and outreach for regional communities.
  10. Collaborate with Bering Sea Women’s Group to develop and maintain women’s support groups, as well as Safe Homes regionally.
  11. Annually plan and coordinate regional gatherings to support survivors of Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault and service delivery agencies.
  12. Frequent travel within the Region. Travel outside state for the annual meeting.
  13. Identify funding streams and assist villages to identify sources to sustain projects.
  14. Other duties as assigned by the Wellness Director.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. AA degree preferred. Two years of responsible work experience in the human service field. Work experience may substitute for education on a year for year basis.
  2. Must be willing to adjust work hours to work on weekends and evenings when needed.
  3. Must possess strong written, organizational and oral communication skills.
  4. Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds.
  5. Must be dependable, self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  6. Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Word, Windows, Excel and the use of the Internet.
  7. Must be willing and able to travel.
  8. Ability to maintain client confidentiality.
  9. This position is a Covered Position subject to all requirements of the Alaska Barrier Crimes Act AS 47.05.310-47.05.390, 7 AAC 10.900-10.990, and to the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, 25 USC 3201-3211 (ICPA).    A background check clearance is required, including fingerprints, and the employee’s name will be submitted to the Background Check Unit of the State of Alaska Department of Health and Social Services and entered into their central registry.  Barrier Crimes Act and ICPA requirements apply and must be complied with at all times in order to remain in the position.
