Job description

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner operates as part of a comprehensive 23-Hour Crisis Stabilization team that provides ongoing assessment, crisis intervention and clinical determination for level of care to individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis. This dynamic team addresses urgent behavioral health needs including but not limited to significant emotional dysregulation, disordered thought processes, substance use intoxication resulting in behavioral crisis and environmentally de-stabilizing events that require multi-disciplinary crisis intervention.

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for providing person-centered, trauma-informed care to these individuals with the goal of stabilization at the least restrictive level of care and an emphasis on post crisis growth. An ideal candidate will work well with multiple internal and community stakeholders including police, community partners and other internal medical staff to coordinate care and safety in the community. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a crisis program with psychiatric conditions as well as knowledge of the DSM -V, corresponding psychiatric medications, medical and mental health co-morbidities as well as local community resources for continuity of care referrals.

Required Qualifications

VOCATIONAL / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT :
Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required; a master's degree in Nursing is preferred.


EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT :
Registered Nurse and/or Nurse Practitioner experience preferred. Previous public health and/or adult health experience preferred, including experience in the provision of long-acting contraceptive methods.


SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES : SPECIAL REQUIREMENT :
Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
