Job description

The Research and Development Manager is responsible for leading a team of scientists to conduct timely and relevant dairy microbiology, chemistry, and texture research to propel the business forward. The key role of this team is to explain and improve understanding of phenomena using established and advanced analytical tools and research methods. A primary duty of the manager is to advance the team's skills and capabilities and create development opportunities. The manager maintains resources dedicated to starter culture selection, product attribute measurement, analytical chemistry, and pilot plant capability. Additionally, the R&D Manager inspires the team of scientists to find and apply technology to support the company's objectives. The Research and Development Manager reports to the Director of Innovation and Technical Services and works with Product Development, Technical Services, Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and Engineering to improve the business.

Requirements-

1. Ph.D. Degree in Food Science, Dairy Manufacturing, Engineering, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a Related Field: This qualification ensures that the candidate possesses an advanced academic background, particularly a Ph.D. degree in fields directly relevant to the position. It indicates a deep understanding of the scientific principles and methodologies essential for the role, providing a solid foundation for advanced research and development.

2. At Least 10 Years of Industrial Experience: The ideal candidate should have a substantial and proven track record with a minimum of 10 years of industrial experience. This extensive experience signifies a comprehensive understanding of the practical applications of knowledge gained through academic qualifications. It also demonstrates the ability to navigate and excel in the challenges of real-world, industry-specific environments.

3. Dairy Industry Experience: Specific industry experience in dairy is a crucial qualification, emphasizing practical knowledge and insights into the unique dynamics of the dairy sector. This requirement ensures that the candidate is familiar with the complexities, regulations, and nuances of dairy production and manufacturing. It also implies a hands-on understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the dairy industry.
