VANTAGE Aging


Help us breech the Digital Divide! This innovative program is designed to improve access, skills and competencies for older Ohioans to participate in the digital economy.


Vantage is seeking a Digital Navigator to provide individualized assistance to age and income-eligible community members who need affordable home internet service, affordable internet-capable devices, and/or coaching in introductory digital skills in order to become effective home internet users. This assistance is provided primarily by voice telephone, but may also include email, text, video chat, and other communication methods that work for the learner.


The Digital Navigators work is part of the Senior Community Service Employment Programs (SCSEP) efforts to promote the self-sufficiency of older workers and support equitable internet access for community members across SCSEPs 38-county service area in Ohio.


Subject to available funding, Digital Navigator is a full-time position that offers competitive compensation and benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life, long-term and short-term disability insurance, a generous paid-time-off (PTO) schedule, and 12 paid holidays per year. This position will work remotely, with attendance at in-person trainings and meetings as scheduled, and it will report directly to the Director of SCSEP.


Responsibilities and Duties:
Receive, return, or initiate telephone contact with clients and/or individuals identified by the SCSEP seeking or needing Digital Navigator assistance.

Communicate with clients about their existing home internet access or need for home internet access, as well as their need for gaining practical experience using internet supported devices and other technologies.

Assess each clients access to technology, current digital skill level, internet connectivity needs, and internet use priorities to assist each client with developing agreed upon goals for Digital Navigator services and a plan for achieving each goal.

Plan and manage assistance to each client with the objective of fulfilling each clients goals.

Track each clients progress and requests for assistance by keeping accurate and timely records, and report outcomes as required.

If necessary, advise clients about free or affordable home internet service options for which they may qualify, assist those clients applying for said services, and support those clients efforts to secure service.

If necessary, advise clients about sources of affordable computers or other internet connected devices for which they may qualify and support their efforts to acquire and maintain appropriate devices by providing clients with resources on relevant topics such as repairs.

Coach clients, as necessary, to use their home internet services in order to meet their internet use priorities. This may include both in person, phone, and online interactions, as well as referral to sources of additional digital literacy skill training.

Other necessary responsibilities and duties that may be assigned.
An Associates degree in a computer related field of study or equivalent experience is preferred. Two or more years of experience in library science or adult technical education is also required.
