General Description:
The Director of Engineering leads the Engineering, Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) and Configuration Management teams and provides direct technical support to company leadership. P lans and directs all aspects of engineering and complex design, integration, testing, and support activities within the organization. Designs, tests, integrates, and supports complex systems for use in Department of Defense (DoD) and civil aviation applications. Coordinates and allocates resources to ensure all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with the organization's established policies and objectives.
Duties:
- The Director of Engineering leads the engineering team and provides direct technical support to company leadership. Duties require collaborative leadership, creativity, and sound decision-making skills.
- Provide direct support for rough order of magnitude (ROM), bill of materials (BOM), statement of work (SOW), and technical data package (TDP) generation by analyzing technical requirements and generation of work breakdown structures/integrated master schedules.
- Reviews internal, subcontractor, and vendor quotes for technical content and accuracy and assists with selection of subcontractors and vendors.
- Supports business development activities, to include strategic planning, proposal preparation, marketing activities, and support of trade shows.
- Develops, implements, and refines engineering processes and procedures, to include configuration management.
- Monitors engineering operations and inspects completed installations to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications, and compliance with operational, airworthiness, and safety standards.
- Compiles data and writes reports supporting engineering studies and projects.
- Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform assignments.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in an engineering field required, master's degree desired.
- 20 plus years of engineering experience that includes mechanical and electrical/avionics design and integration in DoD and commercial aviation platforms, including airworthiness, system safety, electrical load analysis, mechanical, and software engineering disciplines.
- The ability to design, integrate, and obtain airworthiness in FAA type-certificated aircraft is preferred.
- More than 10 Years of experience in engineering management and customer interface.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
- Experience required with MS Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, Access, and CAD software systems.

- Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day

- Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
- May be required to lift up to 25 pounds and carry for short distances.
- Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
- Normally works in an office setting with controlled temperature.
