Job description
Reporting to the Executive Director, Foundation, the Philanthropy Officer will serve as a strategist for individual and major gift development prospects with a focus on identified fundraising priorities, service lines, or research areas. This position plays a key role in meeting the fundraising goals of the Foundation through physician engagement, volunteer and donor management. The Philanthropy Officer will successfully grow and manage a major gift portfolio of approximately 100 to 150 prospects to meet assigned goals and objectives for the Foundation. Will work with clinical leadership and colleagues to identify and qualify prospective donors, make qualification calls and discovery visits to build a pipeline of prospects capable of making gifts of $25,000 and above. This position will develop and implement gift strategies and solicitations, ensure accurate gift processing, create and manage individual stewardship plans and develop appropriate engagement opportunities. As part of engagement efforts, the Philanthropy Officer will be responsible for initiating appropriate contact and developing meaningful events for donors and prospective donors to showcase unique opportunities for support. The Philanthropy Officer will be responsible for tracking progress and results utilizing prospect management guidelines and the Raiser's Edge fundraising database.
Essential Functions:
Personally grow and manage a portfolio of approximately 100 – 150 major and principal gift prospects with the intent to cultivate and solicit gifts of $25,000 and above.
Proactively and strategically identify and qualify prospects with the capacity to make a major or principal gift by conducting a minimum of 12 face-to-face visits per month.
Make qualification calls and discovery visits to build a pipeline of prospects capable of making gifts of $25,000 and above.
Present a minimum of 26 major gift proposals with a minimum of 16 proposals funded each fiscal year.
Develop and implement gift strategies and solicitations, ensure accurate gift processing, create and manage individual stewardship plans and develop appropriate engagement opportunities.
Responsible for tracking progress and results utilizing prospect management guidelines and the Raiser’s Edge fundraising database.
Establish cooperative working relationships with hospital leadership, board members, physicians and clinical staff and the community to promote maximum engagement and giving in support of St. Jude Medical Center.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
5 years of more of Major gift experience in a large organization, especially in higher education and/or a medical center or medical research environment, with a track record of successful major gift solicitation.
Experience using fundraising software, including Raiser's Edge, Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, as well as office equipment, e.g., laptop, scanner, etc.
Preferred upon hire: Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE)

The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
