Job description
Senior Quality Engineer Ideal candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of AS9100C/ISO9001:2008 requirements, experience composing and/or revising product quality plans, and experience managing an internal audit system & product audits. Prior experience with FAA regulatory agencies preferred. See full description below. Summary Statement: Applies extensive knowledge of principles, theories, concepts and industry practices and standards in the area of planning and directing activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for industrial processes, materials, and products. Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities: Develops solutions to a variety of complex problems requiring independent judgment and ingenuity to modify standards and procedures relative to planning and directing activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for industrial processes, materials, and products. Management applies general guidance related to resolution of complex problems and outcomes. Conducts analytical studies on simple to complex engineering proposals to develop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation. Analyzes research data and proposed product specifications to determine feasibility of product proposal. Confers with research personnel to clarify or resolve problems. Devises sampling procedures and designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data. Establishes programs to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurement, and analytical equipment and facilities. Develops and implements methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and devises methods to assess cost and responsibility. May perform on site quality audits of vendors for initial qualification, maintaining vendor qualification and quality problem resolution. Directs workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability. Compiles and writes training material and conducts training sessions on quality control activities. Functions as project leader, when assigned, and provides technical leadership to 1 to 3 Stakeholders in the Quality Assurance Department. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work, addressing complaints and resolving problems. Ancillary Functions and Responsibilities: Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications other than the primary assignment. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Formal Education, Training, Professional Certification and Work Experience: Experience may be substituted for the formal education and training requirements in this section at the discretion of management. Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and six (6) or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Level of Supervision Required: The level of supervision required described here is representative of that which must be met by a Stakeholder to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Works under general direction. Guidance as to results expected and complex problem resolution. Exercises latitude in determining activities and approaches within moderate to wide parameters. Communication and Special Skills: Communicate effectively using electronic media and in written and verbal forms. Make telephone and direct personal contact with internal and external personnel and make formal presentations to small or large groups. Competent in the use of standard software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel. Must be able to travel between facilities and operate standard office equipment. Work in excess of eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week as required. Must be able to ascend and descend stairs.
