SUPERVISES:  

There are no direct reports with this position.

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:  

Under general supervision, The HVAC I (Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning) I technician performs various technical work repairing, replacement, and installation of HVAC equipment to include furnaces, heat pumps, package units, split systems, ranging from residential HVAC/R equipment to light commercial equipment. Duties also consist on performing maintenance and being knowledgeable on the fundamentals of refrigeration equipment.

 

 

TYPICAL DUTIES:  

1. *Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain various residential and light commercial HVAC equipment.

2. *Cut and bend tubing to correct length and shape.

3. *Utilize skills in plumbing, mechanical, electrical, HVAC and refrigeration systems.

4. *Observe and interpret refrigeration pressures and vacuum gauges and adjusts controls to ensure proper operation. Able to perform recovery and vacuum.

5. *Test joints and connections for gas leaks.

6. *Wrap pipes in insulation batting and secures them in place.

7. *Replace defective Controls, fuses, and electrical wiring to repair installed units.

8. Repair and replace residential and light commercial evaporative A/C units.

9. *Repair and replace residential and light commercial heating systems.

10. * Ensure PRIDE safety policies and procedures are followed.

11. *Respond to EMERGENCY calls after work hours.

12. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

- One to three years of field experience servicing residential and light commercial HVAC equipment;

- Able to use industry hand and machine tools (i.e. vacuum pumps, refrigeration gauges);

- Ability to read, interpret and work from schematics and written instructions;

- Proficient in electrical trouble shooting (i.e. single phase and three phase motors, compressors, contactors, relays and sensors)

CERTIFICATES REQUIRED:  

The following licenses or certificates may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirments.

 

EPA Certification

R410A Safety

Valid Driver's License

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance:

 

• Maneuvering to, in, and around equipment.

• Bending, kneeling, stooping and reaching.

• Climbing steps tools or ladders.

• Lifting and moving heavy equipment up to 35 pounds.

• Climbing ladders to gain access to roof top equipment

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  

Work is performed at a customer’s location in office, shop, warehouse, or outdoor environment. May require driving to and from worksite locations. Equipment can be located in crawl spaces, rooftops, and outside facility. Employees may be exposed to hazardous and/or toxic substances, electrical shock, noise from equipment, and depending on external weather conditions, wind, rain, cold, and heat.
