Cleveland Clinic Akron General

Internal Medicine Residency Program

Chief Resident/Junior Faculty for the Academic Year 2024 – 2025

The Internal Medicine Residency Program at Cleveland Clinic Akron General is seeking a highly qualified Internal Medicine resident (anticipated graduation June 2024) to serve as our Chief Resident for the academic year 2024-25. We appoint two Chief Residents each year, and one of the positions has been filled by a graduating resident from our program. We are a community-based institution with a strong emphasis on ambulatory care. In addition, we have a very busy and high-volume critical care service where we provide care to patients with complexities typical for an academic institution.

Our Chief Residents report to the Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program and the Medical Director of the Internal Medicine Center of Akron (IMCA). They also serve as junior faculty within IMCA, which is the academic clinical practice comprised of the core teaching faculty for our residency program. The responsibilities are a blend of clinical practice, administrative and teaching responsibilities.

Chief Residency is an excellent opportunity for those interested in a career in academic medicine. We offer leadership training to our incoming chiefs, as well as mentorship and support for career growth. Throughout the year, there are several opportunities for learning and making impactful changes in the program, all in the most supportive environment.

This position can support a J-1 visa. For more information, please refer to our residency webpage:

Please remember to include a cover letter and CV with your application.
