Job description
Humble ISD - Electrician
Reports to: EP and Vehicle Supervisor School/Department: Maintenance.
Pay Grade: MT7.
Work Days: 261 days.
Wage/hour status: Manual Trades Non Exempt/Hourly.
Updated: October 2023.
Purpose:
Under general supervision: maintain, repair, and install electrical systems, services, and equipment for the district. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all electrical fixtures and systems in district facilities.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid journey electrician license in the State of Texas.
- Valid Texas driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Must have ability to clear a criminal background check along with a drug test administered upon employment and be subject to random drug testing.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of electrical circuits and wiring and operating principles of motors.
- Knowledge of local electrical codes.
- Knowledge of computers and I-Pads.
- Ability to use and operate electrical meters, meggers, amprobes and VOM’s.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and written reference material.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
- Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve problems.
- Ability to use hand and power tools.
- Ability to receive and complete electronic work orders on the I-Pad.
- Ability to comprehend complex systems and technical information and explain effectively to a wide variety of stakeholders.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines.
- Ability to perform duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with minimum supervision.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships and work in a team environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written, with tact and diplomacy and provide a high level of customer service with a wide variety of District personnel and coworkers.
Experience:
- Prefer 3 to 5 years of experience in general maintenance repairs or new construction.
- Three years or more experience on an electrical service truck preferred.
- One year (cumulative) experience operating a bucket truck preferred.
