Job description
JOB DESCRIPTION / SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Participate as a contributing member of district and building level special education/student services meetings
- Work with building and district staff to establish district-wide procedural guidance around best practices
- Identify needs with principals and building special education team
- Assist with staff training related to current issues, district processes, behavior and instructional practices
- Organization and facilitating of meetings, including building special education related meetings
- Attend IEP/evaluation as district representative when requested
- Providing on-going feedback – to the school’s special education team and general education teams
- Ensure on-going communication to team of all necessary directives, training
- Distributing and interpreting information/learning resources to school teams
- Supporting staff with need for external support/resource
- Student transition between levels and grades/planning meetings and clarity of process
- Support buildings with identifying evidence-based curriculums, instructional and formative assessment processes aligned across levels and aligned with district standards
- Develop building processes with principal and building teams
- Work with general education teachers to enhance their skills and strengthen their knowledge of student supports
- Assist with monitoring of fidelity of programming, interventions and compliance
- Member of District’s Special Education leadership team along with Director of Student Services, School Psychologists and Behavior Specialist
- Other duties based on qualifications/certifications
- Employee may work in a variety of elementary, and secondary settings
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR CERTIFICATION:
- Master’s degree in Special Education, School Psychology, Administration or related fields
- Strong communication, collaboration and problem solving skills
- Knowledge of special education laws, regulations and best practices
- Strong foundation in MTSS, IDEA, Rule 51, and 504
