Quality Manager
Summary
The Quality Manager develops, implements, and manages quality control systems designed to ensure manufacturing excellence consistent with established standards, customer specifications, and production goals. This position participates on the Horberg Industries Production Leadership team.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide and oversee inspection activity for product throughout the production process
- Supervise workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure high productivity and high technical integrity
- Create, document, and implement inspection criteria and procedures
- Inspect, test, measure, and record product features/characteristics to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, hardness testers, and optical comparators
- Read customer and OEM drawings, manuals, purchase order clauses, etc. to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, certification processes, formulas, and measuring instruments required
- Review production traveler/op-sheet against customer/OEM drawings, specifications, and applicable quality clauses for accuracy
- Classify inspection results with acceptance/rejection status; take appropriate action on products, materials, or equipment not meeting specifications
- Ensure that the organization's Quality Management System conforms to customer, internal, ISO 9001, AS9100, ASQR-01, and statutory/regulatory requirements
- Ensure evaluation of, and reporting on, vendor quality systems
- Oversee receiving inspection examination of incoming materials, ensuring that they meet customer, regulatory, and statutory requirements
- Manage the monitoring, measurement, and review of internal processes, especially those that affect the quality of the organization's products
- Interface with customers, employees, and vendors/suppliers to assure product requirements are met
- Participate in production and management review meetings, as appropriate.
- Report to senior management on the performance of the QMS (e.g., results of quality audits, corrective actions, etc.) including the need for improvement
- Responsible for accuracy and timely inspection/calibration of monitoring and measuring devices
- Keep current on standards, regulations/laws, issues, and news with respect to product quality
- Interact with vendors to ensure quality of all purchased production components and external processes.

- Reconcile final inspection documentation for shipments
- Interact with source inspector as needed
- Test incoming raw materials
- Practical experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Intermediate Windows PC skills, including MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
Requirements
- Education: 4-year technical or business degree. Equivalent work experience may be considered
- Minimum 3 years quality control and inspection experience in aerospace or other precision industries
- Technical aptitude desirable; previous experience with machine tools, a plus
- Must be able to multi-task with high attention to detail
- Must be team-oriented and work well with minimal supervision
